WhatsApp Disappearing Messages feature gets a new update
WhatsApp Disappearing Messages feature gets a new update. WhatsApp's disappearing messages feature now gives users more control. According to Facebook-owned WhatsApp, users will now be able to enable disappearing messages for all-new one-on-one conversations. When this option is enabled, all future messages in these WhatsApp chats will be removed automatically. WhatsApp is also offering users more control over how long messages are kept before being removed. When the feature was first introduced in November of last year, the only choice was for messages to be deleted after seven days.
WhatsApp users will now be able to set disappearing messages as the default setting for all new chats. When enabled, any new one-on-one chats you or another person start will be set to expire after the time you specify and included a new option when creating a group chat that allows you to turn it on for groups you create.

WhatsApp's disappearing message feature has now two new durations: 24 hours and 90 days. The current 7-day option is still available. Users who choose the default disappearing messages functionality will see a message in their conversations informing them that this is the setting they have chosen.
If these individuals want a specific conversation to remain permanent, they can disable the disappearing chat option for that topic. The new default setting has no effect on group chats, according to WhatsApp, which has added a new option when creating groups to allow users to use the disappearing messages feature.

WhatsApp has stated that the functionality is entirely optional and does not alter or delete any of your current chats. Messages previously sent or received in the chat will not be affected by the Disappearing Messages setting. In a private chat, either user can turn off or on disappearing messages. Any group chat participant can enable or disable disappearing messages. A group admin, on the other hand, can adjust group settings to allow only admins to toggle disappearing messages on or off.
Despite the fact that the disappearing messages function appears to be a useful feature that would delete all messages once their purpose has been fulfilled, WhatsApp advises that it should only be used with trusted friends. This is due to various flaws in the feature. If you forward a disappearing message to another chat, for example, the message will not disappear. You may also save the entire conversation to your phone's gallery by taking a screenshot of the conversation. Using a camera or a different phone to take a photo of the conversation screen is also an option.
Besides these loopholes, there are also more restrictions. WhatsApp has stated that if you do not access the conversation with disappearing messages during the 24-hour, 7-day, and 90-day time frames, the messages would disappear from the chat but not from the notifications until you open them. Replying to a disappearing message with a quote will keep the message in the chat bubble as well. Any backups of messages that are disappearing will also save the messages.
